1 Large Clip VS 10 Smaller Clips

Post by mrpaulmahon »

So I'm just wondering what does Resolume prefer to have.
Lets say 10 smaller clips on its comp VS 1 larger clip (6mins - 3gb) copied but with all different starting points??

At the moment I'm just copying the one large, and it seems fine, but I'd be interested to know if over-all it would just run smoother with all individual clips.

Running:
2014 - Apple MacBookPro - 2.3 i7 - 16GB Ram - 500GB Solid State
Along with Ableton.

Cheers

I try to keep my Comps to a lower clip count, after 250 columns with 5 layers, it gets a tad unpredictable. Larger files would keep your comp file size lower.

Performance wise, there's no difference between loading 10 smaller files, or the same big file 10 times.

Theoretically, deck loading will be slightly faster with the 10 smaller files. But the difference is negligible.
