Resolume Crashing

Post by blobe »

Hello, I'm currently running the newest update of resolume.

Every time I'm using it it seems to crash within a 10-30 min window.

I cant seem to find where the crash logs are to post it.

System specs -

i7-10700k
GTX 1060 (waiting on a 3080)
32gb ram

Let me know what other information i can provide, I use resolume every day to livestream and deal with constant crashes :(

Which nvidia driver version are you using?

456.71 Released on 10/07/2020.

Is resolume supposed to give me a crash log prompt when it closes? because currently the program just freezes for a second and exits itself and nothing pops up

Yes, a crash reporter dialog should show up.
Can you check the Windows event logs, maybe that has some entries?

Any help with this? Resolume is crashing randomly between every 5 - 30 minutes of use now during my live streams.

What is being played during the crash? are there any other applications running on this machine alongside Resolume? Are there any hardware changes during before the crash? What version of Windows are you on?
Have you tried rolling back your nVidia drivers to a previous version?

At first I thought it may be my composition I was on crashing it so I started a new composition from scratch with far less things and its still crashing.

I am using the NDI spout to hook Resolume into OBS, but its also been crashing without the NDI output on. Im also using beatlink trigger with Ableton link to sync my visuals to my CDJs, although the crashing still happens when this program is closed and not linked.

I'm on Windows 10, up to date.

I will try rolling back drivers now.

Any idea why im not getting a crash report / log when resolume closes? It just freezes for a second or 2 and the the entire program shuts itself automatically.

No clue on the crash report. Maybe it's something big that crashes so hard the program doesn't get to the point where it sends the option for a report?
I'd try rolling back GPU drivers. Most of the time, that seems to be the problem with Resolume crashing.
You're not using any third party plugins are you?

It's good to know that with all the other programs closed, the crashing still happens, this helps.

On a side note, when using OBS, Have you tried using Spout rather than NDI (assuming that OBS is on the same machine as Resolume.) I find that Spout works better than NDI in any application on the same machine ;)

Resolume not being able to show the crash reporter often happens when the source of the crash is an external library, and it's a hard crash.
We've seen this with driver issues, but the windows event log had the driver crash logged then.

You can find the Resolume log file in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Resolume Arena

That could already give a clue.

If the crash happens at the same clip position with a specific clip, it could be a corrupt file too.

Do you also get texture back from OBS, via the virtual webcam plugin by any chance?
We've seen that plugin crashing too (but that gives a crash report)
