Converting MPEG?

Just let it all out, buddy. You're among friends here.

I have Media Cleaner Pro 4 and I also installed VirtualDub. I am trying to import some mpeg files (I found them on one of the footage sites linked here). Media Cleaner doesn't even recognise or show mpeg, mpg or mpe files. VirtualDub does, but when I try to open them it says it can't determine the file type.

Do you know what could be wrong? I can edit and save avi files just fine in After Effects and Media Cleaner. Windows Media Player has always been able to play these files and when I check the properties, it just says MPEG, no weird codecs or anything.

Please help me out :)

I find same problem with VirtualDub. So I use Premiere there isn't this problem.
