Resolume and Touchdesigner, DMX format

Post by metafred »

Hi there!
I'm currently sending DMX instructions with Arena to my Artnet controller (AN404) in order to control my LED strips. All good
I'm trying to do the same with Touchdesigner and I can't make it work.

I'm wondering what format have the DMX instructions out of Resolume? :?:
Thanks!

Dmx is a protocol to transmit 512 channels of 8 bit data over serial ports. Every 8 bit channel can transmit a value between 0 and 255.
There is no 'format', like dmx isn't stored in a .mov file and transported or something.

When you use art-net, you are adding another protocol to the mix.
Art-net takes all your 8 bit dmx data, packages it in artnet data packets, to be able to send this data to clients (nodes) over a network using UTP cables or even wi-fi.

If you can't get art-net out of touchdesigner, i would go to the Deriviative forum and ask the community there what's missing on your patch :-)

This would be a question for derivative.
Are you sending artnet out of TD via the dmxout chop? be sure to set your local IP and your destination ip (or broadcast) settings properly, disable any other, unused NIC's and set your net, subnet, and universe up correctly.
