Hi,
I've got a gig in two weeks. (Quartier Rouge)
And they asked me to use some really old skool material.
more like pacman stuff, logo's, smileys,... flashing advertisementstuff,...

Some examples are here at the global gathering movie starting from 6.15 min

I just saw the first episode of the computer game history series I, VIDEOGAME. That would be a great source for samples. Note that it's not quite legal to do this though.

Play the games with an emulator and capture the screen with Camtasia Recorder or whatever screengrab program you can get your hands on. Camtasia lets you record a portion of your screen and with a MJPEG-codec you can record the emulators output directly without framedrops.

Emulators you will have to check are:
MAME for Windows (A bit hard to setup but roms are easy to find)
WINVice (Commodore emulators, roms also easy to find)
