Save and continue for AOM

Post by djrummer »

Hi!
I've had my advanced output crash three times in 10 minutes or so.
All of my major frustrations with this program lie with saving.

Another example *I* would like to see - the option to save the advanced output WHILE I AM WORKING ON IT. It seems ridiculous that I have to save and close and reopen after every fixture I make.

Same thing with content creation in the composition.... it's so frustrating that after every move, or every clip, I have to save.

I can bring up 100 different options to allow for an autosave. I understand the risk of autosave for live VJing, which is the main function of this program, but christ..... having to save after any momentum in the creation process is so unfortunate. Especially since it keeps crashing.

can you share your comp? and tell us exactly what we have to do to let it crash?
the option to save the advanced output WHILE I AM WORKING ON IT
You can. Just save it into a preset and after this..just hit save as often as you want without closing the advanced output.

Can you explain why you want to save it after every step? - Because it could crash?
btw: you can just use the shortcut strg+s to save into an existing savefile or strg+ shift + s to create a new one. Even a autosave function could be tricky for you...how fast should it save your state? every 20 seconds?

Best wishes

The last Arena crash I got was about 4 years ago while working on some very heavy MIDI mapping that was sending data every beat to an from the same device. It was a mess and honestly my fault lol. What are you doing that is causing the crashes? What is your machine specs? I'd be more concerned about that vs an autosave problem. That is more or less throwing a band-aid over the real problem. LEt's try to figure out the source of the crashes first ;)

hi! :)

yall know I *vaguely* know what I'm doing.

I dont feel like I'm doing anything out of the ordinary.
I'm creating fixtures.
Like I've been doing for years.
Or importing / copying from others.

We'll see what Z says about my crashes.

Yeah, I have a similar machine. You shouldn't be getting crashes left and right with that. Is your windoes and GPU drivers up to date?

Agree with the request. Save and Exit is an extra step when you only need to save. Plus an Auto Save for Composition building would be nice.

As I wrote above,
you don't need to click Save&Exit to save the Advanced Output configuration. Just use the save function inside the Advanced Output
