Edirol v4 idea

Post by digital:snot »

Hi All,
I LOVE my Edirol V4.
It is the best affordable vj video mixer... However,
It isn't as mobile as I want. I am wondering
if anyone else would purchase (or upgrade) a edirol v4 if it was rack mounted in a configuration similar to the pictures I have edited here:

http://www.digitalsnot.com/rackmountv4.htm

I have copy/pasted the main interface into a 2 space rack mount configuration. with the exception of the tbar, everything else is to relative scale.
IF there is a lot of positive interest I am gonna pass it on to Edirol
For me, I would be much more organized if I could rack a couple together like this. any thoughts?

It looks like a great idea. However, every VJ has his or her own preferences. Ive seen many ways of people their V4's... Some are "comfy", some aren't

But still, what you got going there looks really good.
Keep it up.

(bit of a late response, but only just saw the post)

Interesting idea...

I admit I haven't used the V-4 before, although I've been eyeing it, so I guess I may not be that qualified for an answer, but on the face of it the design seem to have its advantages.
I think one of the issues with compressing everything into a rack mount will be being faced with smaller controls, and perhaps this is one of the advantages of the unit as it is now.
