9x 3G/6G HD-SDI input setup

Post by Sportinger »

Hey guys. I figuerd everything out so far to build a redundant 9x live camera input setup. Would love to hear your thoughts about ist:

decklink quad 2 (8 fullHD inputs in one card) or 2x decklin quad 1
decklink SDI 4K (one 4k sdi input)
Nvidea GTX 980Ti
i7 6700 4x 3,4GHz
Mainbord with Z170 chipset
2x 32Gbit M.2 pcie (one for system one for clips)
650watt power supply
3840x1440 resolume GUI
3840x2160 preview for livecams(resolume output 1)
3840x2160 projection(resolume output 2)

A few questions are still unanswerd. Is a xeon with ECC memorry worth the price? Which mainboard brand is tested best for resolume (asus gigabyte etc.) ? Do i forgett something groundbreaking? I only have experience with a 4 live camera resolume setup.

so how will this setup be redundant?
what is the level of redundancy you need?
if the psu fails for example, the show is over.

I will have an exact copy of the system. With kvm switches i can switch all outputs. The 9 sdi streams can be splittet to all capture cards.

Hey everyone,
2 decklinks (v1) arrived yesterday. I tested all inputs simultainously and it worked like a charm. CPU usage went from 10% (resolume runnig without any layers activated) to 15% with all 8 inputs active, while fps sticking around 57-60. A soon as i get the m.2 SSD`s i will benchmark the system (benchmark clips) while having the 8 inputs on 8 layers active(resolume advance output as custom preview monitor).

I have to admit, feels a bit like in the days when people started shooting video with DSLR ;)

Nice!

As a note, since your Decklink 4K capture card is a duplex card (all BMD 4K cards are), you could actually use the 4K output as well. In my opinion, Arena 5's ability to use both the I/O of capture cards is one of the best available features!

Why are you using a 650W PSU on such a great system? It seems like you'd want to have at least 850W in case you want to add another GPU. Personally, I would use at least a 1000W gold rated PSU.

I need to work with a redundant system.
What models of switches used for switching outputs video?
And what models of switches used for switching the inputs.
Thank you very much

& dcaiman - Redundancy and switchers are two totally different topics and not part of this thread so why don't you start a couple of new topics and describe what you need so that we can help you?
