New MBP 2016 + Arena

Post by daxx »

Hi all,
looking to buy a new laptop. What are your thoughts on the new Macbook Pro 15" (with touchbar)?
I've been working on mac for more then 10 years now, not really happy with the new model but not so willing to switch to Windows again ...

Cheers,
Dax

I've had a 50/50 reaction from the guys i've talked with. Some are convinced it'll do fine as apple hardware is usually pretty optimized and able to run pretty solid, and some are convinced the laptop just doesn't have the power they need. I guess it remains to be seen...

I'm looking forward to hearing from those who decide to try it out.

I've been stuck with this as well, very happy with my MBP Retina, not really happy with the newest version MBP.
I'm planning on going hackintosh.

That 1.8tflop gpu in the loaded spec's is super underwhelming. It's right on par with one of my $1k cheepo asus laptops and it runs about 5 layers @1080p with a few effects but good luck column triggering. I guess for simple stuff or smpte pre rendered content it wont require much of the computer.
