Thinkpad X1 Extreme (Gen 2)

Post by im_borealis »

Does anyone have strong opinions regarding the current Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme?

My institution orders ThinkPads from Lenovo and gets a great deal on them. This year, we're ordering the brand new X1 Extreme Gen 2.
  • i7-9750H
  • GTX 1650 Max-Q (4GB GDDR5)
  • 32GB DDR4
  • 15.6" 1080p display
  • 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports + 1 HDMI out
  • 4 Years Accidental Damage Protection, ZERO questions asked.
(We have an on-site Lenovo certified repair center.)
At 1990 USD for a 2800 USD machine, the price is unbeatable.
I wish I could go for the 4K touch screen, but we can't customize.

For all the armchair lawyers out there: Even though I buy through the institution, the laptop is 100% my property, and IT states explicitly that we can use the laptops for whatever we want, including making money from outside business.

Dont forget that after the GFX Card the Storage of your content is the importend thing for arena.

So if you have a fast SSD as well to put your content on it, then this laptop should be able to push at least oen 4k comp ( and output).

The other thing i dont think the price is sooo good... but I´m on the other side of the ocean and we may just have differnt prices.
