x and y rotations seem to work fine however z rotation seems to not keep perpendicular shapes.

What resolution is that image? i think in your second screen shot, your image is being cropped, so it looks more square.

In the first picture the corners are not 90 degrees and in the second they are 90 degrees
I think that if you would use a video with a resolution of 600x600 there would be no problem but with 640x480 Avenue stretches the width.
I would say this is a bug indeed.
