Scaling up Project Resolutions

Post by miles »

Hi All,

I'm a little new to Resolume and projecting in general...

I made a set in Resolume using mostly sources directly from Resolume such as Gradients and Solids. I produced the session in 800X600. But now I want to change the resolution to the projector's native which is 1024X768. What steps do I need to take to insure that this is done seemlessly? The first thing I noticed is under the Clip's Video tab - I've started to change the Render Width and Height. What else do I need to pay attention to? Thanks!!

Greetings,

quick and dirty way is to force your layers to conform to the composition by enabling width and height, setting them to the composition of 1024x768.

This would eliminate you changing the values on your sources. however your aspect ratio will be forced into that, thus any video in a different aspect ratio will look skewed.

That's a really good tip - thanks! Sadly, it started to create some problems with the Audio FFT I had set up... In the end I have for the most part recreated the whole set in the new resolution. I guess what I've learned is to start in the native resolution of the projector you are working with...

A good follow up question might be: What is the most popular resolution that you work in and why? I seem to run across a lot of XGA projectors (1024X768). Thoughts??

Its really up to you, and the environment that you are mainly in, so basically, if you are using those resolutions often enough you can start your composition off like that...Otherwise, what you will find is that most people will start of their composition at 1920x1080, this is usually keeping in line with the resolution of the clips being created and used, as well as it also comes back to your aspect ratio as well... :D
