Low frame rate

Post by janhein »

Hello,

I have some problems with Arena 6.
I have a GTX 1050 Ti and a Blackmagic Duo 2 card.
When I use them for outputting in Arena 6 my fps will drop below 50 fps.
Also the files I play are choppy.
(The maximum fps start at 120 fps)

When I do the same in 5.1.4 I have no problem.
The maximum fps starts about 150fps and drops to 120 fps. That is ok.

I'm using windows 7, i7-6700K, 24GB ram.

Somebody any idea?

Hey Janhein,

120fps/150fps isn't good either. Don't use the fps system as a tool to track your performance. The fps indicator is just to see how it gets the output to the external screens. If you have a 100fps+ framerate; you will get screen tearing unless you have a dedicated screen and setup that can handle that amount of fps.

Is the external screen and the Blackmagic setup to be outputting on 50hrz or 60hrz?
What kind of frames per second clips are you using?
When you say it drops below 50... is it 48? or does it go down all the way to 30?

Please try the following and tell us what you see:
- Output to an external screen
- Then go to Output -> Show Display Info.
- Tell me what you see on your external screen.

Thanks for the reply.

The auto fps is for me only a refference to see the difference between arena 5 and 6. Ther is a big differnce between Arena 5 and 6.
All my video's are 50fps and I output them with 50fps.
I use 720p at 50frames.

At the moment all my stuff is packed for a gig next week.
When I'm there I will do your tests.

One other question.
Could there be a difference in frame rate when my video's are played from a normal HD or from a SSD?
I notice some difference between them.
When I play them from a normal HD and I do some copy from the same HD, the fps are dropping and the video also is choppy. It stops playing for about a half second and then goes on.

Whenever possible; use an SSD. HD isn't fast enough for reading multiple video files on Resolume. Works "ok" on low resolutions. But if you are going to work on 720p or higher, than SSD is pretty much a must.

There is no "real" performance indicator yet within Resolume. It either achieves your goals or it doesn't. So as long as you are running your Resolume 6 just fine on your gigs with smooth framerates; you are in the good. That is currently the only - real - indication that your Resolume is working good enough.

I dont have an answer but I have the same issue... resolume 6 was choppy, so I went back to 5 for smooth play back.... I wish I could solve this problem since I spent the money on the release (pre Black Friday) so at that price tag its useless right now...

I do install new updates and see if that fixes and so far 6.03 is still choppy..

So the same comp runs fine in R5 but is choppy in R6? What codec are you using?

What if you create a new composition and import DXV (don't load in any old comp). Do you still get the same problem?
