It's a settings you can find in OSX system settings - Mission control:

Uncheck Update clip panel on external trigger in General Preferences.

This should work:

Enable your midi device as input in Midi Preferences,
Go to Shortcuts menu, Edit Midi,
click on the - button, then push a button on your controller,
repeat for + button,
Exit Midi mapping,
done.
