Advice for hardware setup to display 11 outputs

Post by ellybee »

Hi,

I’m looking for advice on our hardware setup for 10 projectors and 1 monitor - all 1920 x 1080px.

The composition is 9889 x 2100px spread out over a 12 x 3.4m wall. I will be using Arena 5 with edgeblending and keystone correction.

Here is the spec of the PC:

MSI H170A Gaming Pro LGA 1151 Motherboard
Intel Core i7 6700K Quad Core LGA 1151 4.0 GHz Unlocked CPU Processor
Bundle Deal Intel Core i7 6700K Quad Core CPU + Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4
2 x Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2400MHz Memory Black CMK16GX4M2A2400C14
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5" SATA III SSD MZ-75E250
Corsair RM-1000 1000W 80 PLUS Gold Power Supply
Antec S10 Signature Series Full Tower Case

And Graphics cards:

2 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti G1 GAMING 6GB Video Card (3 x displays ports, 1 hdmi and 2 dvi)
1 x Gigabyte GTX750ti (2 x dvi, 1 display port, 1 hdmi and 1 mini-hdmi)
Although each graphics card can only handle max 4 outputs each.
SLI bridge between the 2 GTX980 cards has been removed.

Do you think it is possible to achieve the desired output with the setup above? Or would amendments/replacement parts to any of the specs above help?

Thank you!

Running 3 GTX 980s we are doing 12 outputs. You should be fine, just make sure one of your 980s is the main card.

Composition may be a little tricky. We are still working out all of the kinks.

We got it running but seems to last only 24hrs before crashing. Low memory warning is visible after the first half hour and the fps start to decrease. We have increased the ram in the PC but still having the same issues. Currently debating whether splitting the composition in two and running across two machines will help. How are you getting on with your setup dragonsoulj ?

Resolume is 32-bit so increasing RAM won't help.

The best way to address low-memory is to make sure all your clips are in DXV codec.

adding to Oaktowns reply,
splitting your content to two decks could help with the memory issue too.

Thanks Oaktown and Ravensc. All clips are with DXV codec. We did have a few PNG's in the mix too but have deleted them now. Do you think it would be more stable on a Mac?

I don't think so.
The memory limitation is the same on both platforms.
