Song Playing Now?

Post by B88 »

I know this must be a stupid question but I could not find it anywhere. Is there a way to have an overlay text that displays what's the current song playing?

Interested for both Avenue and Arena with Denon Stagelinq integration

I don't believe this is an option with Denon currently. Denon has OSC support but it seems like it is only used for timecode. If Denon can open OSC up to also output a 2 strings (1 for the artist and 1 for the track) this could be used to get the text into Resolume. Alternatively there is some Denon software for timecode that should show the tracks info, you could try doing a screen capture and then a crop and import that into via spout to Resolume to get the info that way, but you will be limited on what you can make that text look like.

If you can prepare it beforehand, you can assign Text block sources to Denon tracks the same way as video clips. https://resolume.com/support/en/sync-to-denon-players
Set them to loop, and they should play while the track plays.

Denon sync is only available in Arena.

Why is that? Is that a Denon decision or Resolume decision?

For many DJs Arena is complete overkill. Most of the functions a DJ needs are in Avenue, and the price is much more reasonable, considering the extra stuff in Arena is not required by the majority.

Our decision.

Advanced features are only available in Arena, that's why Avenue is cheaper.

Oh I see, so performers wanting to sync visuals with music is advanced? I thought that was the main reason behind any VJ software.

I agree projection mapping is "advanced", but sync for DJs?

That's a shame, because you'd sell far more copies of Avenue if Denon DJs could use StageLinq with it.

Luckily you don't see Ableton Link as "advanced" then, as that's available in both versions.

Hopefully Denon will add Link to their products, to overcome the limitations of yours.

Yeah, from our users, very few are DJ-s and even fewer of them use Denons...
There are a ways to create audio reactivity in Resolume, but Denon sync os not one of them. Look for FFT here http://resolume.com/support

You know, you get a 20% Resolume coupon if you buy supported Denon gear?
