I wanna bring that back.
Tested with datapath vision SC uhd

Hardware:
I9-9900x 10 core
Rtx2080ti
64gb memory
2 TB nvme drive
3 capture cards (datapath vision SC uhd, decklink duo, decklink 8k)

Test 1:
3840x2160 p60 input (1 channel)
Latency between 120 and 140ms

Test 2:
1920x1080p60 input (1channel)
Latency between 100 and 120ms

Test 3:
2 x 3840x2160p60 (2 x hdmi input from 2 sources)
In resolume 2 layers side by side
Latency on both between 130 and 160ms

Test 4:
1 x 7680 x 2160p60 (2 x hdmi from another media server with nvidia surround option activ)
Total synced input
Latency between 140 and 160ms

Did the tests with vision preview Programm as well, it's around 20ms faster.

Madmapper is around 10ms slower then resolume
Touchdesigner (depending on which driver used) gives same results like resolume and madmapper.

In my opinion it's useful for many cases.
But a simple Webcam test brings a visable delay, so it's not VERY useful for "SPEAKERS"

Hi Warspite! What hardware are you using the Magewell USB Capture HDMI 4K Plus on? Do you get smooth 2160p 60 FPS input on your output canvas. I have the same unit but cannot get smooth playback on 2160p, the input source is an iPad Pro, thanks. Any advice?

AJA KONA HDMI PCIe capture card
3840x2160x60 = 100ms delay (6 frames)
Note: tested with Touch Designer. Was 130ms when using the AJA capture utility.

I'm happy with this result. Sure it would be nice to get the 4 frame delay I read on the BM DeckLink cards but I worry about their stability. I've also run into issues with Datapath cards so I steering away from them if I'm going 4K. HD, they work great but I haven't run a test. But someone here was using their SC card which is big $$$$ and was around 10-12 frame delay. Always good to test and report here to help everyone out.

Bought the Bird Dog 4k HMDI NDI encoder for around the same price as the AJA KONA HDMI capture card.

Video capture went from 100ms to 42-44ms!

I tried a couple of different (cheap) HDMI -> USB capture cards.

I tried going from a Mac (M1 Macbook Pro) to PC and vice versa. Method was to run a simple millisecond counter in Max MSP on the source, capture the video, and show it on the receiver. Take a picture and subtract the value on receiver from the source.

Video resolution was 1920 x 1080 and refresh at 60Hz.

For reference, from PC to Mac using NDI, my average latency was 88ms (roughly 3 frames at 30fps).

From Mac to PC using https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097D5CJ4T/?th=1 average latency was 80ms (a little less than 3 frames at 30 fps)

From PC to Mac using https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08Z3XDYQ7/?th=1 average latency was 120ms (roughly 4 frames at 30 fps)

I'm surprised at the performance of these cheap $20 dongles.
