OK, last night proved to be a good test of the MacBook.
Used a cheap and nasty scan converter to get TV out, and when setting it up, the card decidied the out put res was 768x1024 NOT 1024x768, a restart later and it seemed to be ok.
Resolume crashed once, randomly. Not sure why.
Another problem was when using a midi controller to enable/disable effects the whole effects/file/sources/audio panel in the centre of the screen no longer accepts clicks. I can click on other clips on the right, adjust effects, even choose the other tabs for effect/files/sources etc..., but no browser panel. This sucked, as if I had a deck with only a couple clips loaded I couldn't add more mid mix - an infuriating restart later working fine.
Until, when using a midi controller, I enabled an effect on Effect layer 1 (or is it 3 - the bottom effect slow) the effect went all glitchy, all the adjustable aspects of the effect graphics (dials, close buttons) failed to display and just left big boxes where they should be. Sorry no screen shots.

Performance wise, I was running 2-3 layers with 2 layers of effects with relative ease.
Our other VJ computer (3.0Ghz Shuttle, 1gb Ram, 10000rpm video drive, ATI 9200 128mb AGP) which has been a solid computer looks like its the back up.

confirming first tests on macbook pro runnning resolume under bootcamp.
DVI - out works ok, MIDI much more responsive than single core AMD, isight working well too. Can't say much of performance as was using external slow USB HDD, but 640x480 seems to be realistic now.

more update on resolume on mbp:
my cheap chinese USB TV capture cards works quite good (15-20fps) now even when used together with MIDI. the only problem is mbp has only 2 USB ports and if you don't want to use apple's one button touchpad, you have only 1 usb port left.

you sayd "DVI - out works ok" with apples s-vid adapter or with a scanconverter or direct to the beamer?

I wasn't testing it on a beamer yet - just on a monitor. I've ordered some simple sca converter, so as soon as it arrives (it may take a while) , I'll do some more testing.

Another problem I encountered yesterday was a that MBP's usb ports are lacking power a bit - my alesis photon midi didn't want to power up on one of the ports.

This may because of quite a serious power requirements by Photon. Specs say that if powered from AC needs 6V 1000mA - seems quite a lot.

I have also tested VGA connection - works fine on my LCD.

got myself cheap cheap kworld pctv scan converter

didn't need to splash out for anything more as I hope apple will eventualy release proper bootcamp with full s-video support.

But even with DVI-VGA-scanconverter-s-video chain everything works nice and smooth after initial testing. Can change resolution via both windows and resolume. The picture is not perfect (kworld again) but fine.
