New version = New bug

Post by Lazy-J »

keyboard mapping always reset to default when closing and reopening Resolume 2.41.
Ex: i assign the space bar to "bmp Tap" in the keyboard mapping, i close resolume. I open it again..... nothing assigned to "bpm tap" :(:(:(

I also lose all my fx shortcuts and preferences for 2.4 version when i install the 2.41...

i'm tired to setup all my preferences and FX shortcuts every two weeks... :(

do you also have 2.4 installed? does 2.4 also loose it,s keyboard mappings?
for a quick fix you could try to first remove the settings folder in ~/My Documents/Resolume 2.4/ and then start resolume and do the keyboard mapping. I,d like to know if that fixes the problem.

Hi Bart,
Thanks for the reply

No, it doesn't fix this problem.
2.4 save the keyboard mapping correctly, but the 2.41 version always reset the keyboard settings to default.
And as they share the same setting folder, i lose my 2.4 keyboard settings each time i open and close the 2.41.

i found a simular problem.
i copied my old setting files into the resolume folder.
now i have 2 settings.the default settings for the keyboard are overwrting my own setting. for example i use F6 for a special effect. now i have to delete the default setting (switch to deck 6), now my own setting work. next time i start resolume f6 is back to default switch to deck 6.
normally this was no problem.
now i want to change the beat tab. it is assined to tab. if select beat tab in the preferences it shows an empty space, i cant delete it and i can not change it.

this is a big bug and makes the new version useless for me, because i use my keyboard a lot.
and please more funktons for keybard controlling. it should be the same as for midicontrol.

this sounds just like the problem I'm having that I posted about here: http://www.resolume.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=2974

sorry for never responding Bart, I got wrapped up in other work.

the only work around I've found is to not save or load keyboard mapping at all. resolume saves automatically when you exit. however this doesn't solve the problem in this case, when a new version is released. i can't upgrade because I don't want to go through with updating my midi preferences again. guess I'm stuck with 2.4 for now :)

now i deleted all my preferences and started a rebuilt of the keyboard mapping.
same problem. all keyboard mapping for effects works fine, except it is not possible to change the default settings. F1 will always change back to activate layer 1, with the next start of resolume, for example.

Hello,
I found a fix for this problem. Here are the steps I followed:

1. Open Resolume 2.4
2. Set up the keys the way you like them
2. Exit Resolume 2.4
3. Open Windows Explorer and go to "My Documents\Resolume 2.4\settings"
4. Mark the file "preferences.xml" as Read-only
5. Start up Resolume 2.41, preferences should be loaded correctly now
6. Whip the tears of joy off your face :P

Not a perfect solution, but not too bad either. I hope it helps.
