Hi,
I have been using my XP Pro laptop with Resolume 2.41, and eventually filled up the harddrive with clips. I decided to buy an external hard drive - something I should have done in the beginning.
Now, there is no built-in way to transfer decks, is there? I mean, if I copy everything from C:\clips to G:\clips, the decks cant be automatically updated to see the new location. I do not want to lose the decks I have made.
So, I decided to try to edit the .dck files in Notepad. While it is possible to open the .dck file, when saved, Resolume will not open it.
I saved in a variety of formats - ANSI, Unicode, Unicode-big endian, UTF8, and from Wordpad, "text document - MSDOS format"
In each case, Resolume will not open the deck (even if I have changed nothing, simply opened, saved and closed the file)
I tried Reshacker, which is a tool for editing .dlls and .exes, but it does not open .dck files.
What should I do? Is there anyway to move the clip location and update the decks?

Hi,
Thanks - I have access to a Mac, and I use Ubuntu Linux on another machine so I will try that.
I would guess that the reason the thumbnails turned grey, is because the thumbnails are encoded in the dck file, and a find/replace for c: might break the encoded image.

Ubuntu does not want to open the file, unless I use a Hex editor. But I have no idea what to change with the Hex!
Will try a Mac next, if all else fails, I'll just copy the clips back onto the laptop for performance, then remove them when I need the machine for other purposes.
Out of interest, would you be willing to post the Python script you used?

Hi-
Thanks, that script works well, with slight modification to suit my set-up - especially as I have .mov, .avi and .mpg files all in various decks.
I've never used python before, but I am pretty impressed with it. I must learn more! But I can also see the dangerous power it has, so, you are probably right to mail it rather than post it for anyone to use and destroy their decks by mistake.

Re: Editing .dck files
I'm bumping this thread as I have the same problem - does anyone have any fresh ideas? I have loads of decks that I'm very happy with, and to re-do them all would take many hours.
I too have tried opening them in notepad or wordpad, editing the filepaths (there are about 15 to change) and then saving with a .dck extension but no luck. Surely there must be a way around this?

Re: Editing .dck files
I suddenly remembered i once made an application called the Deck Fixer, i attached it to this post.
You can change location of the fies in the deck with this tool.
I hope it still works, if not i can't really do anything about it anymore. Anyway give it a go i would say.
Cheers
Edwin

Thanks Edwin.
I had such high hopes for that fixer, it would have been a lifesaver- but unfortunately it doesn't work for me. I would be interested if someone else could also test it out and let us know if they managed to get it working.
I have so many decks to re-do I would have glady paid if that fixer had worked!
