Recording in resolume - does the quality get worse?

Post by melemel »

This is something that I feel i should know but don't, so i thought i'd ask...

I use mostly 320x240 MJPEG clips in resolume (yes i know - slow PC!), and often record in resolume to create new clips or longer mixed sequences.
Does the clip quality on the recordings get worse when i record using MJPEG as the compression? I.e. Is the recorded clip compressed 'twice'?

Yup. Any time you commit something to disk using a lossy compression scheme (such as MJPEG), the quality will go down a little. Recording uncompressed video in realtime is still not something which is within the reach of most ordinary desktop systems.

Hope that answers your question.
