Problem with recording in Resolume

Post by Chapman »

Hi guys,

i searched the forum but noone asked this question specifically. When i try to use the resolume inbuilt record function, my 42 framerate loop videos (avg. 4-8 sec long) drops down inmediately to ~8,2 as well as the recorded video file. When i stop the recording everything jumps back to normal. Im using DXV codec movs, both the resource and output videos are 640x480. I tryed the recording on several laptops, including strong ones (this one now is a Lenovo T410s: Intel® Core™ i5-560M Processor ( 2.67GHz 3MB ), 4GB RAM, intel hd graphics (built on i5 core). i dont think this isnt enough for this function. I also tried to separate the recording to an external HDD and play the clips from the built-in HDD, vica-versa, both from built in HDD, none works. I tried it on a dell studio 1555 (core 2 duo T6600 @ 2,20 GHz, 4 GB RAM, ati mobility radeon HD 4550 512mb. Same performance during recording.

Any ideas, advices? If no, what is the best (easiest, cheapest) way to do the recording on another device (eg: i switch my tv on as an output device and capture the output video with a dvd recorder.

Thank in addition,
Best Regards.

do you use resolume 2,41 or avenue 3?
record functions are not the best
and which os have you tried? (xp or win7?)

for external recording:
sd(video/svideo): dvd recorder, dv-cam with video in, archos video devices, analog usb/internal tv grabber for (an extra) computer
hd(vga/hdmi): blackmagic cards or matrox mxo, (blue ray recorder?)

my problem last time:
my record function does not react on my new pc (win7, amd x2, gtx285+a bunch of geforce9x00 :p).
it does nothing :D (hopefully i don't use it)

Hi,

sorry i havent sepcified those you asked before. Im using resolume avenue, my tests were all made on win7 systems. Is there any good solution to record my live set with another software (eg. some kind of screen capturer? i have already tried camtasia and some others but framerate dropped down aswell:(

no i don't think that screen recording software is better than the internal recording function, also never heard of a good tool which can handle this!
if it's not the hdd, i bet the graphic card is too slow!
but even on my macbook with geforce 8600 i can record 3 layers in 640x480 with 8-40fps/sec (it's not smooth at all)
1 layer is quiet stable here and i get 20-25 fps @1024x768

my suggestion is to try another display driver (heard of some problems with nvidia cards and the newest forceware drivers). may you try an older forceware (180 or 190 series) or omega drivers, maybe this helps.

@resolume team: are there any open gl settings which behave to resolume? anti anilising does not react but it would be nice for keystone effects for example (i saw mappings on vvvv with anti anilising which looks much smoother, no pixels!)

Thanks for the advices! Anyway i have found out a good solution: i switch my TV on as a display unit, and record the output video with a dvd recorder linked to the TV :) Simple but hopefully works. Will try this weekend.

does your tv act like a scanconverter in this case?
i'm not sure if a tv is able to convert vga/hdmi to video signal for dvd recorder.
if you have tv-out on your computer or an scanconverter, you should directly record on the dvd player!
