We decided not to put audio playback in version 2.0. Alltough audio playback might at first seem a logical next step, it does not make much sense from an interface design point of view.
Resolume has always been about manipulating video from a graphic point of view. And all the functions and interface are made for this only.
Take for instance the random playback mode. (for those that do not know it: it plays the frames from a videofile in random order creating a very chaotic effect) This makes perfect sense looking at video without audio. Now apply this random playmode to an audiovisual (AV) video ... what will happen to the audio? It will sound all chopped up. Now this might be good for some experimental AV performances but for most AV artists it is not a button you want to exidentally hit in the middle of a show

This is just one example of why adding audio playback to resolume is not a good idea. The interface is just not build for it. We do however very much would like to enter the AV world (because there is room for improvement and differnt approaches) but with a new application build especially for AV performances.
we have already done some testing with AV playback and things are looking good but a lot of work needs to be done and we wil start this new project after the introduction of resolume version 2.0.
Hope you all understand our point of view and we are interested to hear all your opinions about this matter.
