I am currently evaluating Resolume 4.13 Arena and have tried to control it with Chamsysy MagicQ via artnet and it works well under win7 or XP. I have not been able to control Resolume running on my new Win8 (64bit)machine though, think it is some issue with artnet function and and win8...
Also tried controlling Resolume with MQ and Resolume on the same machine, but it dont seem to work, since Resolume cannot detect a artnet node on a loopback IP or a loopback adapter. This works very well with Arkaos, so I think it is something that the Resolume team would be able to implement in a near future.
Artnet under Windows 8
Re: Artnet under Windows 8
Here is a link for the Loopback adapter: http://www.windowsreference.com/windows ... windows-7/
Chamsys also use the loopback IP 127.0.0.1 to control media servers running on the same machine (e.g. Arkaos)

Re: Artnet under Windows 8
Very well! Got the MagicQ-Arena setup to work with two PCs and connected via WiFi, worked like a charm.
If You Resolume guys could just have a brief look at why it is not possible to connect with MQ and Arena on the same machine with the loopback adapter,
or even better, via 127.0.0.1 ; It would really Rock!!!

Re: Artnet under Windows 8
Officially, loopbac IPs are not supported by the Art-Net protocol ( a sending node cannot be a receiving node at the same time ).
We come from a video background, and although we've managed to implement the Art-Net protocol in its official form, we haven't found a DMX wizard whose been able to explain how to work around this 'limitation'.
If you know anyone who can provide some helpful information on this (aside from : "this is how it works in software such and such" of course), we'd be much obliged.

HI!
Nice to see an answer so quick here
I am sorry to say that i,m not a coder or network specilist either...
I think You can have a look at the links I provided above, to get at least a clue to the solution.
As far as i can see, Resolume it self, don´t manifests as an artnet-node when I sniff the network from MagicQ, who have a function to see all active nodes on the network, wich, to me, implicates that Resolume only listen to the broadcsted artnet stream, but not acts like a node itself. Maybe there is some alternatives in the implementation that is easy to add.
One other strange thing, is that it was only possible to get a working artnet connection via the wireless network adapter, but not on the wired adapter. A interesting wiew on the subject would, maybe, be the way Resolume binds to the IP-adress for the artnet connection, or at least a possibility to make Resolume choose any network, where a artnet stream is present.
