RGB Delay drops fps

Post by He2neg »

Hey Folks,
i had a few efffects on the Composition, Mirror quad / Twitch / Strobe / Fish Eye / ...
and as well the RGB Delay.

All Effects were all time enabled and i just turn the opacity high when i want to use them.

After some time of running the Show i had some FPS Drops (from 60 down to 10-20).
I figured out that the Rgb Delay was the reason for the fps drops, every time i turn the opacity above 0 the fps drops.

I also tried this the next day at home ( without any active output) and it was the same.

Is RGB Delay such a pain for the GPU if used on the Whole Composition ?
Is it better to use the RGB on a Single Clip instead ?

DelayRGB does rack up a relatively high texture count. It stores a texture for each frame that you want to delay, because that's the only way to get access to the previous frames.

So with one of the sliders at max, it has to store around 90 textures in VRAM.

thanks for the replay.... make sense ;)

Is it better to put the RGB Delay at the End of the comp effects or does the order does not matter.

i.e. delay <--> mirror quad
