Hello!
I am testing Resolume with a BM Ultra Studio 4k feeding into a Smart View Duo monitor for now.
Playing one single 1080 HD Quicktime file drops my FPS down to 50-55 fps. This is on a brand new MacBook Pro 15" with the dedicated GPU and 512 SSD.
I've tried turning the automated graphics switching off and the FPS actually gets worse, down into 35-45 fps.
This has me a little concerned as these aren't high bit rate files, only about 200 megs for a 2 minute and 30 second long video. The built in sample videos are choppy as well.
What's a little odd is the playback within the software appears to be smoother than the output monitor. Doesn't seem to matter if the FPS is high or low, the output always seems a little choppier than the preview in the software.
Any ideas? Settings to double check? I need to output smooth 1080i 59.94 video through SDI for this to work for me.
Thanks!
Rich

Re: BM Ultra Studio 4k playback not smooth
As a test I am using Qlab to play the same files out of the same BlackMagic hardware and the playback is smooth.
Are there output settings inside Resolume that I should check? I would really prefer to use Resolume over Qlab for playback.
Thanks!
Rich

Anything?
I also cannot select the UltraStudio as my audio output. It shows up as a device but when I select it Resolume goes back to the built in outputs.
FWIW Qlab will not output audio through this device either so it may be a BlackMagic problem.

Nothing huh? The Qlab guys seem to think the audio thing is a BM driver issue.
Video wise Qlab doesn't have any performance issues with video though. I've played 6 HD videos at once through Qlab before the frame rate starts to drop. Resolume drops to 45fps with one HD video through the SDI interface.

Still no solution?
Re: BM Ultra Studio 4k playback not smooth
Have you upgraded to 5.0.2?
Re: BM Ultra Studio 4k playback not smooth
try going back to an older osx, or better Windows in bootcamp.
I can't get the intensity shuttle to output correctly on osx in any app, not even media express.
but in Windows on the same machine everything, even the audio output works just fine with resolume.
Also resolume performs better under Bootcamp on my macbook

Have you upgraded your BMD drivers to the most recent release: Desktop Video 10.6.2?

Re: BM Ultra Studio 4k playback not smooth
Yup, started on 10.6.1 and now I'm on 10.6.2. Same problem either way.
The audio issue I suspect to be a Blackmagic issue as I have the same problem in Qlab and Resolume. The Frame rate issue though is isolated to Resolume as Qlab plays back fine.
Resolume through a standard VGA output is fine as well. The frame rate only drops when using the Blackmagic box.
