monitoring a folder, auto add new files on layer

Dear all,

searching yielded no definitive answer, so ....
could someone tell me if Avenue (on Windows) can monitor a folder, and can automatically put any video file (mpeg2) that arrives in that folder, on a layer ?
Polling of that folder does not have to be continuous, e.g. every 10 seconds would be allright.

The goal is to have (5 second long) highlights that are generated on a streaming PC copied to that folder, which is on the PC with Avenue on it.
That way, the VJ can launch highlights from Avenue for the crowd in the arena, at times that are independent of what the stream viewers get.

Arena is (as far as i know) not able to do this... But there are some other solutions for this task:

I would stay on the streaming PC and just send a video signal (NDI / or via Capture card) to the Arena System.

For monitoring a folder and play the clips youll need to use a 2cnd programm.

I know there are some for movies as well but i cant find the link now...

There are also solutions via a RaspPie or Kodi player...

If its not needed that the video Stream is allways on you can use vlc media Player.

You need to restart vlc to get the new video files..

I work with Avenue btw, not Arena.

Essentially, what would be needed is a 'watch folder', that Avenue polls every x seconds.

I do now use NDI from the streaming app to Avenue, but that requires me to start the replays, whereas I would like the colleague controlling Avenue to do that.

I'll keep looking for the best workflow.
Any further suggestions are warmly welcomed.
