Low frame rate with slice effects

Post by vjkatza »

It looks like the Slice Outline effect is heavy on resources.
I checked with two strong computers.
4K composition + Slice Outline source using only 3 slices (polygons) and frames start to drop.
the same with regular slices - more then 10 slices and frames start to drop dramatically.
With easy outliner demo from juicebar its even worse.
On the other hand the "Slice Transform" is super fast! 60 polygons and still 60fps
Any workaround?

hey Katza,
may I ask if you can provide me your composition file and your advanced screen preset? ...I am very interested in testing this on my side.

Best wishes

Once Wire gets meshes things will be much smoother. That should happen sooner than later but no ETA as of now :)

Here is the project file + Advanced Output XML + A video showing the differences between "Slice Outline" & "Slice Transform"

What kind of GPUs do those strong computers have?

thanks katza for the files... i have tested it ...and also getting your results. Even on my Render-Buddy with a RTX 3090 and Threadripper CPU. Fps getting almost exactly halft. 60 to 30.

Resolume hardware stats are saying that the GPU and CPU having lots of headroom.

Yes, indeed, there is some overhead with Wire patches. We're looking into it.

Same herre. RTX3060 and full gpu usage (output under 15 fps) when using slice outline when slices have beizer curves masks. If I delete de masks it returns to smooth 60fps and 12% gpu Usage.

Tried using beizer curves in output transformation and smooth 60fps.

It seems It suffers with beizer masks.
