Simple question about Licences

Post by devinarmand »

Hi there, if anyone can tell me difference about buying a "new" licence or adding computer to an existing one, besides of the price, because i can understant it. (maybe because i'm not english speaker)

And in any case, what would be more recommended in my situation where i have 2 media servers and also 1 laptop that sometimes "work" together and some other separately. (actually i have 1 license that i "pass" along them depending on each needs).

Thanks in advance.

Basically, you have one text key, that you can "register" (aka do online check with) on 2 pc's at the same time.

You can, in your account settings here on the site de-register any system (pc's hostname is used to identify) then once one of those license slots is used up, use the same text key to register another.

Also, remember that by paying for one key, you can register a backup pc.
In short you have NumberOfPurchasedLicences+1..
Pay for 1, register 2
Pay for 2, register 3
Pay for 65, register 66.

In your case, you could pay for 2, for the media servers and use the same text key for the laptop to be used as a backup or programming/rehearsal machine for example.

1 Key = 2 Seats
2 Keys = 4 seats
10 Keys = 20 Seats

Each key gets a primary and backup.

This is correct indeed:
In short you have NumberOfPurchasedLicences+1..
Pay for 1, register 2
Pay for 2, register 3
Pay for 65, register 66.
This is not how it works:
1 Key = 2 Seats
2 Keys = 4 seats
10 Keys = 20 Seats

Well, looks like I've been doing it wrong all these years.
Sorry guys.

I should probably go back and re-read the legal. It was explained to be (98% sure by someone official) that if you buy a key, that key is good for a redundant machine in case of failure.

So, buying a second key, would not allow that?

I own 25 servers. Most of which are out on various tours. Each machine has a redundant ran in tandem with it in case of a crash. Essentially each of these setups (2 machines) are their own separate user and separate key.

So in this case, the redundant key mean absolutely nothing!?!? So I need to buy 25 more keys?

Thanks for explaining <3

A license "for 25 computers" is a single serial, that's very different than having 25 licenses(serials) for "1 computer".

If you need to use many computers, a single serial number for many computers will be cheaper on the long run for the same amount of usable seats ;)

Sorry, I'm not following.

If I have 25 seats, does that also mean i get 25 redundant seats as well (I still haven't had to switch to a redudnat system yet, but they're there foir insurance.)? I need to know if I need to buy a lot more seats today or not lol :)

Thanks

Your license says, Arena for N computers, you have N+1 activations with the license.
The +1 is the backup seat: https://resolume.com/support/en/registe ... y-machines

Arena for 25 computers, + 1 backup is 26 concurrent activations total.
