Well, the only thing we can say about this, is that your mileage may vary. 
Theoretically, as long as you keep the xml structure intact, everything should be fine. But then again, I just spent last night troubleshooting some of my own 'handiwork' editing the Advanced Output .xml files. And I was pretty confident I knew what I was doing
Once you get it up and running though, stability shouldn't really be affected. If it survives a thorough test in a safe environment, it's highly unlikely that it will flake out on you two months down the road.
