u can open the taskmanager strg+alt+entf and then type the path of resolume + reolume.exe
this will boot res again without starting windows new.

@ChrisisForce: in het nederlands doe je het volgende; start gpedit.msc en ga naar "gebruikersconfiguratie" - beheersjablonen - systeem - aangepaste gebruikersinterface (die dus aanpassen) en klaar is kees.
@zutim: sorry i didn't mean to reboot when resolume crashes, but just that when you boot your laptop you will start resolume right away.
@pxl: ehm xp home edition does not have gpedit (as far as is know... never used it). you could try to use regedit (or install xp pro)

OK, this is VERY interesting.
But what about drivers for my soundcard, videocard, etc. ??
Will it load those things anyway? I don't know a lot about OS . . . Hardware is my thing!
Does anybody know a bit more from experience?
I am building a new 19" rackmound VJ computer and it would be great to know what is best for a new and clean instalation of XP Pro.
Specs : P4 2,8 Ghz, 512Mb, Ati 9700, 2 x 120Gb, DL DVD burner and a whole lot more nice stuff !

install xp (pro) on a 5gb partition, uninstall al the microsoft stuff you don't need. install sp1 and the other windows updates (i don't like sp2...). and the drivers for the hardware you need (and offcource flashplayer and the fonts u use in flash and maby the codecs you need, indeo and cinepack are already there...). when done and you changed the shell, al the hardware will work. then take a look at
this (link) tutorial and also
this (link) might be usefull. besides that there is also
xplite (link) to strip xp (i didn't try this out, but i will soon). you can also use
tweakUI (link) to get rid of the useless stuff like shadows under your mousepointer and so on... and finally
this tutorial site (link)
goodluck

Hello,
in winxp you can do several hardware-configs (shown up before winxp starts)
what i made: i shut down all the hardware i don't need for resolume.
modem, lan, firewire(if u don't need live input), usb, etc. this brought me about 120mb of ram.
i also shut down many services that i don't need for a show (all the internet-stuff, lan, internal spyware, etc.)
thats about 50-70mb of ram.
it works fine, i have 512mb ram, after all the things i described i had about 400mb free instead of 245mb when xp starts normally.
