The support for Enttec USB devices on OSX El Capitan will be fixed on 5.0.2.

The experience has left a very bad taste in our mouth concerning USB dongles in general, so our advice is to invest in an ArtNet based solution.

Right I understand that Resolume 5.01 is having problems with Enttec DMX USB PRO Mk2 but the problem I am having is that my Enttec Mk2 box is not even showing up on my Enttec Pro Manager software. The enttec box is connected as the white LED blinks.
I'm running ElCaptain 10.11.3.

Has anybody faced this problem? suggestions how to fix it?

I tried the D2xxHelper but it didn't work.

@ Alvis_Cortex: Did you check out the Enttec website: http://www.enttec.com/?main_menu=Produc ... 4&show=faq under "OSX El Capitan: Update"

@ Deepsound: Get an ODE! It works great and you won't have to worry about the Pro or MK2 driver issues. Even better, get one with POE and inject power in the ethernet cable so that you don't have to run power directly to it.

Thank Oaktown.

I did check Enttec website and I downloaded Pro Manager 2.34 and I also tried entering the following command to Terminal

Code: Select all

sudo kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBFTDI
But this is what I get once I do it

Hi everyone.

Sorry if these are stupid questions but using Resolume with light fixtures is something completely new to me.

1 - So do the Enttec ODE and the DMX USB MkII do the same thing? but the only difference is the way they connect to, in this case, Resolume?

2 - Can I control light fixtures and LED strips with the ODE box the same way I would control them with the DMX USB box?

3 - Is there any reason why you would prefer the DMX USB box over the ODE one?

Many Thanks

They do the same thing but with different protocol, so you configure them differently. The USB MkII can control 2 universes, while the ODE only one - however, you can use multiple ODE's with a simple network switch.

Yes.

No IMHO.

Yes, one works well (ODE) whereas the other one seems problematic for a lot of people (USB). Just look through the threads and you'll know what I mean.

Another reason I think the ODE is better is that you can connect to it using long Ethernet cables as well as WIFI which means you can place the unit close to what you're trying to control without having to run long DMX cables.

I too prefer the ODE with ethernet. I have used multiple ODE units running IN on one and OUT on the other simultaneously via router.
