The main issue with tabs is that every clip has to load before you can trigger anything in the new tab and that can take a few moments if you have a lot of clips.

I personally only use tabs when I program theatrical shows and dedicate one tab per act. I always change tabs as an auto-follow cue right after I trigger the last cue of the current tab since changing tabs doesn't affect what's loaded.
