I just purchased this adapter and awaiting arrival. A reviewer stated “Finally an adapter that doesn’t lag!”

That sold it for me to try it for 25 bucks to add to my collection I will keep you updated. Head scratch on why only r6.
I have a dozen previous gen macBookPros and no issues at all with those cards.

The adapter came in. It is by far the best quality adapter I have and it was the cheapest.
The latency is still there. I had the time to do a proper test down to the frame for each application of Playback.
My previous observations were wrong.
The entire system has latency on the outputs.

I would avoid the latest gen MacBooks at all cost.
I have 4 to replace now.

I've been running into lots of people calling me with these models, I just send them to resolumes mail. Consistently doing weird stuff I can't fix via email

Well I figured it out, somewhat.....

Take a look at the video. This happens when the output on these Macs are set to 30hz.
When set to 60hz, the output is synced.

This is an issue for me when I only have a 4k@30 option with these machines.
The latency is only 200-300ms, but that enough to throw lip sync with video playback out. Also, the one hits are not precise.
At least I know why I had inconsistent observations now. I apologize for the confusion.

Do you see this latency with other displays too?
I imagine that TV needs to do more processing at 4k resolutions.
Would be really strange if the HDMI output of the dongles would introduce that much latency by themselves, that would be around 10 4k frames that would be stuck somewhere between the GPU and the connector.

You mentioned the old macbook pros not having this issue,
just to clarify, did you try them to the same display at the same 4k 30fps?

just to clarify, did you try them to the same display at the same 4k 30fps?

Same latency on the Ascender48, 2 other Sony xbr monitors and Samsung’s when @30
60 syncs them.
Never had an issue with the previous gen which utilizes the hdmi and thunderbolt ports. I can do more testing with those machines on Monday.

USB C is the only option on the new macBooks.
This video explains it, same monitors, and its a DELL dude! HDMI port

Ok, so its definitely not the TV.

There are the thunderbolt docks which have hdmi or displayport too, their outputs are thunderbolt based for sure. They are a bit bulky to carry around, but it could be worth it if they perform good.
