Yes I do.

Not my first choice, but my mac dealer didn't have a 7200rpm HD on stock when I bought my MBpro. To my surprise 5400 turns out to be fast enough. Even when I mix with 3 layers and several filters. I use 640x480 clips with the Indeo codec. Even large clips are no problem.

I think you're right. Processors and busses have made a big improvement the last few years. Enough to compensate a lower hd speed. So a 7200 rpm hd seems to be a lesser issue at his time. Correct me if i'm wrong...

How do you check the ouput FPS (or other performance measure) while running resolume?

Well since I see you talking about laptop and performances I'll post you my "high-end laptop". As follows:
Intel Celeron 1.7 Ghz (533 MhZ)
2 Gb DDR2 RAM
Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelelator X31OO with 128mb shared memory
120 Gb 5400 RPM internal harddisk
Windows Vista Home Premium

Dont' believe it, huh? Well when I run Resolume it takes 80% of the CPU and 64% of RAM and runs smoothly. I prepare my clips well (non other way then you guys) and output in 800x600.

I could not afford any better but suprisingly my laptop suits me well.
