We totally get what you're after, it's just that you run into problems in specific situations (such as the one I described), and we can't implement something that could potentially ruin your decks.

Btw Resolume relocates all the files in the same folder, even if they are spread out over 20 decks. So I guess if you store *all* your content in one folder, you'd in fact have a working master folder system.

My folderstructure is based on my deck-structure. So every folder with clips is based upon an specific theme (or in the case of use with ableton a songname): every deck in my composition is the selection of footage for a specific song. (it's quite hybrid, because on the fly i want to mix in footage from other songs, so coming out of other decks and underlying folders).
That means i have (and i guess more of you have) multiple folders with footage for their compositions. (one folder will be very chaotic, isn't it?)

I think i don't understand the danger you are talking about in the case of same clipnames in multiple folders: in other mentioned software the search engine just asks you which of the found elements it should choose. (e.g. it says: 3 clips named X are found. which one to take?). Of course, i'm not a software developer, just asking you guys based upon experiences with the use of other software.

but if you say it can't be done, it's a fact to take into account when using resolume and working on the folder structure. As said: one folder doesn't feel that comfortable.

Don't take me the wrong way, I'm not saying that it can't or won't be done, in fact we are very keen on making this work more user-friendly. I just spent a few hours before NYE reconnecting a couple of TBs of footage, and would have loved a master folder then.

To avoid trial and error on our side, we are simply asking how you as users would like to see this implemented, or how you are used to working with it in other software. So thanks for your answers and suggestions.

Drifting off-topic, but I have to say that although working with one folder can indeed be messy, I'm also digging the 'All My Files' option in Finder in OSX Lion. It's not something I recommend as general practice, but if you're moving one particular set of clips around a lot, it could be at least be a workaround to place those in the same folder.

Do you think there will be a speed increment, too???
