Well, going with Quicktime, h.264, 1920x1080 square pix, progressive, 30fps, keyframe every frame, frame bending, max quality, limit data rate to 88000kbps or 8.8mbps.
This equals about 400mb per minute and I get smooth playback on all systems, base test system being a 2007 MacBook Pro with an Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT- 256 MB DVI out 1080. For the older macbooks like the ones I am using, for video to play smooth I have to disable global effects in the preferences unfortunately but with out that I could not get any 1080 file to play smooth in R4. DXV, photo Jpg, Animation- none would play smooth on the Macbooks. I have not checked the FPS but will when I get home. Just wondering if people have any feedback on the format I am going with, mainly h.264. Cheers-
