Very large setup

Okay, a friend and I have a big idea.

We have our own house party, for around 800 people.
The idea is to project on the walls and behind the stage.
I have attached a fast drawn design and a picture of the setup.

All laptops are connected to a lan network, and controlled via MIDI.
The master control pc generates a MIDI clock signal to sync every laptop,
and a MIDI controller which controls each resolume program.
The blue, green and red figures are the projectors.

Could this be a workable setup?

first problem that comes to my mind, is ceiling height..

If it's a house, and it's got that many people in it, then are you going to actually see the images? Or are you just going to get a bunch of shadows on the walls, cause all the people are in the way of the beams.

Maybe it's a really big house, with high ceilings....

LAN Network ? Or Vga / Hdmi over Cat-Extender ? Syncing Laptops via Midi...ok why not....but why such a lot Laptops ? Did you buy 9 Resolume Licenses ? Where do you place them ? In the Rig? No way.....
Try 1 powerful PC with Eyefinity ->10 Outputs or some Triplehead2Go and connect the SIgnals via Cat-Extender to your Projectors..... If you never did something like that: Get a Specialist..... and take care of safety, when setting up your Projectors....

It's not necessary this amount of projectors. If you put the projectors on the other wall, the opposite wall, you would cover more meters.
And the same with the the stage, you can do it with 1 beamer if you put it more far of the wall.
If we knew t the mesures it will be more easy to help you...

i would do all outputs with 1 (or 2) computer with enough outputs and long (vga) cables.

Okay thanks all for the replies. The room is a public sportroom, so it's pretty big.
I don't have the exact measurements, but i'll guess it's around 14 meters x 7 meters

Multiple computers is pointless unless you want unique content displayed on each projector. Its more hassle than its worth.

Link them via dmx, way easier than midi in terms of sync. Address all the servers the same and use something like magicq (free...chasms.co.uk) to trigger columns.

Anyways, less servers is easier unless you're outputting super high res and want to lower the load on each server

Currently working on a 22,000 x 1080 projection where I'll be using 3-4 4 output servers to do it, linked via dmx
