Vertical Projector Setup

Hi all

In the past I have used duel Head & Tripple Head to go units to do multiple projector setups.

A job I have been asked to look at requires 2 different projected surfaces (The same shape and size) each using two projectors but split horizontally as the projected surface is higher than wider.

The dueal Head to go units only allow spanning horizontal unless i was to mount the projectors on there side or try and pivot (rotate) the output in the nvidia / ati drivers. Both of these would have issues and not ideal. I would like to have them vertically at a native resolution (eg 1024x1536 2x768) so I can make the video content to the same spec.

So in total I would need 5 video outputs, 1x user interface, 2 outputs for projector screen 1 & 2 outputs for projector screen 2.

Can anyone recommend a gfx card to do this? I know matrox do a number of internal PCI cards but have got a bit lost with all the different model numbers.

I understand Resolume Arena would then allow me to setup the above config correctly and send the same content out to the two diffrent projector screens whiles still being able to fine tune the mapping of the surface.

Thank you for your help in advance ;-) :D

Unless I'm really mistaking your setup, you can do this with a dualhead.

Using Resolume Arena, your composition setup is actually totally separate from your output setup.

So you can create your composition and content at 1024x1536, and then move the top and bottom of the composition to the left and right of your dualhead screen in the Advanced output.

Then when you stack the projector outputs on top of each other, the composition output is recreated.

Wow, so simple :o

My brain likes to over complicate these things :?

And then just to run the two separate screens I would run 2x dual Head 2 goes? both connected to a duel head pci graphics card? and then another pci gfx card to run the user interface (preview) monitor.

Will windows work with two internal PCI gfax cards?

I could in theory run two separate computers (one for each screen) but one computer would be best so visual are identical and synced.

Thanks again for your help :-)

Ah, I missed the part about the second double screen. In that case, you're running 4 outputs + 1 control monitor, in which case we'd recommend an Ati Eyefinity with six outputs. Or an NVidia with 3 outputs and two Dualheads.

In any case, try to use a single card as much as possible. And stay away from Matrox cards, they *don't* work.

Very interesting solution. But what about edge blending on this case. Impossible, right?
Projectors would have to be perfectly positioned and aligned.

also had bad problems with matrox triple heads....
i have up to 4 pci-e and 1 pci graphiccard (nvidia) installed in my main vj sys - it works ;)

also i got no performance difference when using the primary or a second card for output!

@pfelberg blending is based on overlap in the input selection, so it should work.

Got me on that one. Tks!
