hi all,

my simple question (it's not simple at all),

can i do this in resolume?

if i get a pic of the building or a scaled sketch of the setup, can i load it to resolume and start mapping the slices, so that i have minimal adjustments on the actual setup.

Yes, you can!
I did this a couple of times to simulate specific architectural mapping to some clients.
If I recall it properly, I loaded the base image in the bottom layer and assigned a slice to it. That slice I kept untouched, meaning the image would remain as it is, without ay distortions, etc.
Then I loaded mapping images on other layers. On advanced output, you can assign slices to layers and then start mapping over your original image in the background. At this point, if you assign any slice to "composition" instead of a layer, it will distort the background image as well and that´s not what you want.
After all mapping is done, save settings. Remove the BG image and set slice assignments back to composite, if you wish.
Presto!
