arena crashes upon opening a session that has my decklink quad as a camera input. every now and then it will let me select the decklink and it recognizes the inputs but if you try to launch the clip it crashes...

pretty sure this has to do with the magma external pcie enclosure...

*bump*

Has anyone besides me tried to use one of the magma pcie enclosures with capture cards?

this has been tested on a retina display macbook pro with a gtx 650m AND a DELL precision laptop with a quadro 5000m

this is an issue with datapath AND blackmagic cards...

this is an issue with the pcie enclosure and the thunderbolt enclosure from magma...

the enclosures are verified working, blackmagic and datapath software is showing input as expected...

am I the only person on here trying to use capture cards in external pcie enclosures?

I have now noticed that they crash EVERY vj app I have tested... arena, modul8, vdmx and arkaos media master...

all are legit copies of the software...

this leads me to believe it is a problem on the magma side...

still would be cool if someone else here was maybe trying to get a workable portable capture card solution

Are you referring to our (lack of) response or to Magma's product support?

If you're looking for a response from us, I don't know what I can tell you that you don't already know. We have no experience with the device you mention. You also mention they crash every app you have tested.

We can spend a lot of time contacting Magma, trying to get to hold of an enclosure and then spend time testing and troubleshooting a product which doesn't seem to be very popular among the majority of our users. With the most likely end result being that the BM devices work fine, and the problem lies with Magma.

I'm afraid you're better off contacting them, as it sounds that the problem is really with their cards.

I really wish I had better news on this.

thank you for responding :D

Magma is not very helpful... I was really wondering if there was anyone else trying to do this because the magma chasis DOES work... but not with any video program...

I can not find anyone else trying to use it as a solution for a workstation class laptop rig...

I will keep trying...
