Clip loses focus with midi trigger

I am controlling Resolume with an APC40 in deck mode.
The "Clip Lunch" buttons are mapped to the clips in the deck.
The "Track Select" buttons are mapped to the cue points for the clip on the currently selected layer.
Works great -- when I a trigger clip, the focus shifts to that layer and the cue points operate on the new clip.
With just one particular clip, however, I have a weird problem and I don't know if it's a bug or a setting I accidentally tweeked (I've looked).
If I select this particular clip using the midi button, the clip is highlighted in the deck and plays as usual, but the Clip tab in the UI goes dark as if none has been selected, and the cue buttons do nothing. If I select this same clip, either with the mouse or with the keyboard, it's info populates the clip tab and I have the option again to control the cue points.
Again, the midi buttons control the other clips perfectly -- when selected a clips comes into focus in the ui.
Does this ring any bells for you? I'd be grateful for any tips...
Thanks,
-mike
