Screen splitting. Seems like it should be simple...

First off, Im currently using Resolume 3 to control an LED curtain. Depending on the place my band plays, sometimes the curtain is set up in one solid piece across the back and on other nights, it is split into 2 halves. For the last few years, Ive been using layer 1 in to be the fullsize screen setup, and layers 2 and 3 to be the left and right halves for when we need to use the split-screen setup. The problem with this is, everytime we load a video in, we have to load it 3 times, so every video in our resolume session is tripled. Obviously this really starts to add up over a while.

Im looking to trim down my resolume set so that it is laid out better and is more user friendly. Im going to be using more decks and start layering videos. Unfortunately, with the way I have it set up now, that just isnt doable. Im going to be using Res 4 for the new stuff setup, btw.

Here's my question, does anybody have any idea on how to split the video into 2 identical halves that go to one output?

For example, I need to be able to switch between these two setups: [V I D E O] and [VIDEO]--[VIDEO]
And NOT this: [V I D]--[E O] or this [VIDEO]--[OEDIV]

Before people start stating the obvious, heres what I have tried:
1) Mirroring - doesnt work. Both images need to be the same. One cant be reversed.
2) Slices - I only have one output so, from what I understand and from what Ive tried, setting up slices for each half doesnt seem to make a difference when there is only one output.
3) Every effect combination I can think of.

This seems like such a simple effect compared to all the other effects that are in Resolume. Im not sure why this is not easily done.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Yeah. No matter how I try to adjust it, I cant get it to be 2 even sections of the video on both halves... Again, this seems like it should be so damn simple, and yet.....

Use advanced output and slice and use the routing of input select to select a layer for the slice
Composition is 640x480. Output is 1280x480.

With a 1 output and a normal resolution (1280x720) you'll end up having to crop out some video on the input of the slice to get them to fit side by side.

You don't mention what you want to do about the change in aspect ratio, but on Resolume 3, I think there's two options:

1. Using only native effects, you can Tile first, and then Slide.

2. Use the 3rd party FRParameters. Highly recommended plugin.

DirtyJohn, I am trying to get away from having to use 2 layers. That is how I am currently doing it. I want 1 video in column one to be split in 2.

Goto - thanks for the suggestions. I will try them and see if I can make it work.
