Output Slice/mask feather(soft edge)

I would love to see an adjustable feather/soft edge for output slices, and masks, without having to place other slices around the one I would like to project.
only 3 controls for it,
1: on/ off
2. width: in pixels from the edge of the slice.
3. midpoint in % to change characteristics.
Edit:
of course feathered edge would fade to alpha and not to black.

I posted a similar request and included a similar workaround:

yes, but with 15 or more output slices that workaround would mean hours of work instead of clicking twice per layer.

We're investigating the feasibility of a realtime feather option for Res 5.

I agree that it's far from an ideal workaround especially since it requires a layer.
This is great news Joris! Thanks for looking into this!

So the investigation on feathering slices started with res. v5 back in 2009. How is that coming along? I would really like to have this feature which surprisingly is still missing now in 2024. 15 years later...

I have bought this plugin. It sadly misses the option to invert. Thus if I want to add a quick soft mask in the center to not blind the DJ from the projector this is still not a usable option...

The nice thing about plugins is that you can stack them.
One plugin doesn't have to do everything.
The built in Slice transform in invert masking mode can do that for you.
Or add a mask to your output transformation.
