Hi!

I used to sent SMPTE via 3.5mm audio jack on my old MBP 15" before and it worked just fine,

but the new MBPR only has one 3.5 combo jack,
therefore I bought a XLR to USB adapter,
Image
Mac recognizes it as a USB PnP Sound Device in System Preference panel.

and I also bought this device
Image
Mac recognizes it as a C-Media USB Headphone Set in System Preference panel.

In Arena's preference panel I can also see these two devices show up in the SMPTE drop down list,
but Arena can't read the signal, I've tried Arena 4.1.8~11 get the same result.

Both devices work fine in Qlab, so I can sure they are not broken.

so is there any solution to fix it ?

Yeah, these generic dongle are kind of hit or miss. If you're lucky you get one with a driver that we support, but there's often no telling what drivers they use.

It's really unfortunate that Apple dumped the mini-jack like that, because it was a very reliable solution that always worked.

If you like, you could send over these dongles, on our cost. Then we can take a look at them.
