Hey guys,

I am about to wander back into the PC world after using Macs for over a decade, and I have a question about the settings/capabilities of Windows 8.1

The laptop I am considering has a built in display that is capable of 2880x1620; which seems highly unnecessary for operating Resolume. Can the settings be changed to a lower rez home display to free up more processing horsepower for the output video?

I honestly haven't operated a Windows machine since WinXP, and don't have access to an Win8.1 system just yet. I would like to assume that this is possible, but I would rather consult those who know!

Also....yes! But your pc will have no problem to handle the native res of the screen and the two outputs....and...another live input...and...your 3 layers...even more will be possible.

It sound like the home display on the laptop is 1440x810 HiDPi (what Apple calls Retina) which means pixels are doubled in every direction. This gives you four times the total resolution to give you a sharper image for the same screen dimension so I would leave it alone and enjoy the crispness of the screen.

If you wish to free up some graphics resources, the process to change the resolution on any screen is this (in 8.1)
In Desktop view (same view resolume runs in)
Right click open space on the desktop
Select "Screen Resolution"
Display 1 will probably be your control screen, you can choose from a list of available resolutions in the dropdown menu
If you want to adjust another screens resolution, either click on the graphic of the screen or use the display drop down.
