DXV conversion makes HUGE files?

So I'm a little confused here. Everything I've read says to convert your clips to the DXV "compression" format.
I have videos that I've ripped from YouTube as .mp4s. For example, one of these files is 66MB in size. When I convert it as DXV with no audio and quality level 100 (although the guide says that is irrelevant) and do not change the video size through both quicktime 7 pro or MPEG streamclip I end up with a file that is 1.39GB!
This happens on both my MBP and my Windows machine.
Is this normal/not a problem?
