Auto-reactive effect?

hey guys

got a projector set up to a macbook pro (running audio/midi setup transferring midi data via ethernet to a PC running rtpmidi. The PC is running traktor.

I think the connection is working, cuz under "midi settings" in resolume I can see the local name of the midi connection "network mac projector". I checked "midi input" and "clock input" and now I see resolume BPM is synchronized with the traktor software (COOL!).

But I can't get it to sync any effects. Am I supposed to go to resolume prefs> Audio > external FFT input? Can't get it to work. Any advice would be appreciated! thanks guys.

How are you expecting audio effects to work?

hey man, thanks for your response. I checked out your site too, looks pretty cool!

So I got BPM sync to work, where an effect changes every 4 beats or whatever. However, is it possible to have it reactive specifically to the sound rather than simply tempo? In other words, I don't want it to react when the songs are quiet. I can turn on external audio FFT input, but that's only reactive through the computer's mic. the Midi coming through the ethernet has to have this data right? I just can't get it to show up in the list of devices for "external audio FFT", or is there another way?

thanks again!

That data isn't sent out via tractor. Audio isn't carried over cat5 in this case. You should get a second sound card for audio input, a mic isn't that great. But you are on the right track for audio input.

Traktor sends out midi clock and that's about it, it had osc then they dropped that when pro was released.

The video below shows how to use external FFT, keep your gain low and use the EQ at the low end and you'll won't have things going on during break downs.
