Hi everyone,
I'm wondering is there any possibility to use two matrox dualhead2go to achieve 4 separete displays ? I want to create 4 displays in 2x2 layout so I can make them one big screen...

Yes. It is possible. But you must have 2 video outputs available, other than your primary monitor output.

What kind of displays are you talking about? Are those projectors or LCD/LED Displays?

If you are working with LCD/LED Displays, there are other options available.
For instance, I am used to work with 09 to 16 LCD Displays, as a VideoWall in full format or using each display to show a different image - at the same time. All that using one single video output.

Word of caution, even if you have 2 outputs available, check the Matrox website to make sure your GPU will support two DH2G units: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/produ ... iple_gxms/

As a side note, I always recommend getting a Datapath X4 over Matrox GXM because of the built in flexibility. Matrox forces you to have all the displays connected to one unit be the same resolution whereas Datapath can be programmed with any combination of resolution and scaling.

Well I was also considering Datapath, but it's too much investment for me at this time.
I want to run 4 displays with projectors. Not LCD screens.
I have only one VGA out and one HDMI out, and in some other post I've got answer that it's very unlikely that both outputs would give me image. Supposedly one them would be recognized, and other one not.

To pfelberg!

Could you explain how exactly do you get LCD/LED monitors to work with one output?

It's not what I was looking for at this time, but it sounds interesting anyway...

Actually there´s a lack of resolution and a lot of work with previous video creation.
I use a Videowall system. Imagine 9 displays divided in 3 rows. The entire Videowall image (9 displays) is 1920x1080. Meaning I can produce videos already divided in 9 parts representing each display. Each display will be 640x360. So I make one fullhd clip divided into 9 parts.
I can make other videos entirely fullhd and mix full videos as the same as I use others with 9 divisions/displays.
It is pretty cool, for projects where you don´t need full resolution for each display and you know exactly what you will need to show.
Using this method I have already "pretended controlling" up to 16 displays, with different display combinations.
Course, the many displays in usage means a lower resolution for each one.

Yes, you can make usage of layers and/or slices to make all 9 displays fullhd content, as Joris would say right away. But I am not sure my system would be able to handle all those fullhd layers playing all together. And of course, I would lose my mixing capabilities without adding a couple of more layers for each display.

Pfelberg, this is a similar process to using the Datapath dL8 and X4 hardware.

You could output a 3840x2160 @ 30Hz to the Datapath dL8 and split it into four Datapath X4 divided in quarters output at 50% scale (960x540) scaled back up to sixteen 1920x1080 @ 60Hz displays.

I am actually in the process of designing a Resolume installation scaled down 75% into 1 @ dL8 and 4 @ and scaled back up at 100% into 15 XGA projectors.
