Enttec DMX

We are using Enttec DMX Pro for DMX in to Resolume. If we use a version of Resolume before driver change (4.1.7) the DMX changes items in Resolume instantly. However if we use versions 4.1.7 onwards there is a delay of about a second before changes are performed. Is this intentional?

Of course a 1 second delay is not intentional.

It sounds like you are having some residual shortcuts problems from using earlier versions. Do you have the possibility to delete your Res Docs folder and start with a completely fresh set of preferences and composition?

fresh install of 4.0.2 created
new composition created
tried 3 clips DMX works ok
Completely re-created composition
Tested and DMX delay has re-appeared?

Thanks for checking, that narrows down the problem considerably. We know now the problem is not with the hardware, but somehow related to the composition file.

Could you send us your comp file that causes the delay?

Resolume Arena 5.0.1 + Enttec DMXUSB Pro 1.44 = unable to detect the enttec DMX device....

I've made a set-up with 5 fixtures of 32 pixels and I'm connected to it with an Enttec DMXUSB pro from my Macbook Pro (OS X El Capitan 10.11.1). I've uploaded the Enttec Pro Manager Utility and tested it with my connection and do several tests with success. My Macbook Pro has no difficulties to detect the Enttec DMXUSB Pro box. I can control all the LEDs with the faders provided in the SEND options...

But, once back in Resolume, I've tried to set-up the Enttec DMXUSB Pro with no result. Resolume doesn't see it... I've tried to follow the Manual and did my best to create a Luminverses and a correct fixture... but nothing working... (I'm not an expert with DMX...)

Does somebody tried the same thing with success ? will you be smart enough to provide me a guideline or maybe an explanation about why Resolume can't detect the Enttec DMXUSB Pro (1.44 Firmware).

I will continue to go thrue this because I need it to work but... it's really frustrating at the moment.

Warm regards...

j.

Jocool isn't alone in having this problem I'd like to note!
I am also using an Enttec DMX USB PRO, and similarly I've been able to get Enttec's PRO Manager to successfully ID the device, the main difference between us however is that I'm not running El Capitan
(and at this rate I never will. I need my SU / legacy drivers!)
I'm still on 10.10.5 Yosemite.

Anyway, I'm going to get to the point to avoid waisting everyone's time; this issue has already caused me a great deal of hardship (I had to wipe my machine after the FTDI VCP drivers trashed my kernal extensions).

The question here for the Resolume's Developers:
Does Resolume natively use Apple's FTDI Driver kext?

Code: Select all

com.apple.driver.AppleUSBFTDI
or does it need that to be disabled and somehow have FTDI's D2XX drivers magically work?

It's the difference between seeing this (with the AppleFTDI drivers enabled / D2XX drivers installed):
Image

And THIS (Just D2XX Drivers installed, AppleFTDI kext unloaded):
Image

(I took these before I upgraded to 5.1 btw, but that hasn't fixed the problem)
From what I know I can tell you the latter image is more disconcerting, it gives less information, needless to say neither of these configurations work. Enttec's own PRO-Manager software only needs the built in AppleFTDI drivers to function, which is why I was hoping Arena 5 would be that way too. I have the D2XX drivers installed, and I've experimented with disabling and enabling the Apple kext, if Arena works with the D2XX drivers- they don't have a kext they just have a bunch of dylibs in usr/local/lib - I have no idea how to load them! They don't seem to have the agency to create a serial interface to the thing which I can see in /dev.
This is how I know the Apple one is enabled, but thusfar I've found nothing that can replace it:

There are so many potential courses of action here, I could try to do something to the D2XX drivers to make them do something, I could try the VCP drivers again and pray to god that they don't destroy everything...

Or I could wait until someone from Resolume hopefully reads this post; after all the Resolume manual, Arena 5 promo video and even the store all feature sexy pictures of Enttec devices working with the software on OSX. Please tell me they weren't photoshopped? Please, tell us your secrets! How did you setup your Entec box? I've read both parts of the manual, the part about input and output. PRO-Manager isn't running, wasn't running - the thread is all yours.

That's all I've got to say. I've tried to put as much evidence forward as possible and build on the last post :geek: . Looking forward to a response.
Thank you~

Because Jocool has posted his question on multiple threads, which doesn't really help with troubleshooting. So let's continue the discussion in one place: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12682

Having said that, of course we're not photoshopping product features, and to assume that we would do something like that is not a good start of a conversation. I understand these problems can be frustrating and we'll be happy to help you with any problems you are having, but please do not accuse us of false advertising.
